UK in Flames

Three British girls were killed by an immigrant and the dam burst.  The UK has been flooded with immigrants who are not assimilating, and the ruling class has accused the native population of bigotry for voicing any opposition to the continued immigration.  In fact, one of the most strident voices against this, Tommy Robinson, has been jailed for his reporting on sexual predators who happen to be of Pakistani descent.  The message is clear: shut up while your betters change the demographics of England.  All the votes that have sought to stem this tide of immigration have been ignored by both the Torries and Labor.  Muslims dance in the streets with knives and sabers while the police arrest a girl for observing that a police officer looked like a lesbian.  You see, it would look racist to enforce the law on immigrants, so the police are extra harsh on whites to make up for it.

The incompatibility of the recent immigrants with the longstanding British culture is beyond obvious. Much of Europe is committing cultural suicide by importing cultures that their ancestors fought tooth and nail to keep out of Europe.  Europe abandoned Christianity and thought it would end religious clashes.  No, it was more akin to unilateral disarmament.  The other side is still committed to its religion, and you will be assimilated to it!

In the last 2 decades, nearly 100 British citizens have been killed by Muslims while no Muslims have been killed by native British.  Of course, Prime Minister Starmer has promised to protect the Muslims.  Short of civil war, much of Europe is toast.  The votes have proved repeatedly meaningless and the government, despite promises to cut back on immigration, have more often allowed it to accelerate.  Luckily, the British have disarmed the citizens, so there is little risk to the government.

Correction: The 17-year-old killer was born in the UK, but his parents are apparently immigrants.  It was widely believed he was an immigrant during the riots/protests.  As the killer is still a minor, details are being withheld, thus the confusion.  Is he Muslim?  I can find no news reporting one way or another.

The Pansy Generation

It worries me that anyone could react this way to something like this.  If you can't feel safe because someone scribbled Vote Trump in chalk, you are doomed to a life of fear.  With all the Safe Spaces and Political Correctness, too many youths have been coddled to the point of having no ability to deal with even the mildest adversity.

What tone might this story have taken if a number of students had had this same reaction to a chalk sign saying Vote Bernie or Vote Hillary?  There would be much laughing and ridiculing of these students, which is the appropriate response.  They have been 'protected' for so long that they haven't developed the callouses that adulthood requires.  We all want to protect our kids but we also need to remember that they will eventually grow up  and it would be nice if they had some maturity by then.  Otherwise, they might cry at the sight of an innocuous chalk drawing.

Willful Blindness, Literally!

I read the most unusual headline:

Woman Fulfills Lifelong Wish To Be Blind, Now Happier Than Ever

This I have to read.  It turns out that Jewel Shuping has long thought she was meant to be blind and finally set about making herself so.  The woman had Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID), which is usually associated with people who want to amputate limbs.  I say had because she seems to have 'cured' herself by actually becoming blind.  How did she become blind?  The story tells us.

In 2006, Shuping found a psychologist who was willing to help her become blind. The psychologist began putting numbing drops in her eyes, followed by a couple of drops of drain cleaner.

Amazingly, the story doesn't discuss criminal charges against this psychologist, the revocation of a license to practice psychology, question this person's ethics, or anything along those lines.  No, nothing more is said about the psychologist.

“I really feel this is the way I was supposed to be born, that I should have been blind from birth,  When there’s nobody around you who feels the same way, you start to think that you’re crazy. But I don’t think I’m crazy, I just have a disorder.”

Yes, she is crazy and the psychologist assisted her in her craziness.  It is a disorder, right?

If you want to be blind, poke your eyes, pour Drano on your eyes, or whatever, but the idea of a medical practitioner assisting in this endeavor really troubles me.  What happened to First, do no harm?  This is the same reason I am opposed to doctor-assisted suicide.  You aren't all that eager to die if you need someone present to assist.

If all that wasn't bad enough, the tone of the story is positive.  Look at the headline!  The reporter is all-in on the goal of blindness.  The only disapproval comes in the off-handed line that Shuping's mother and sister are no longer on speaking terms with her.  Can you believe that she has such an unsupportive family?  What does it say about American culture that the story was covered this way?

President comes out of the Closet

“I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.”
Barack Obama, 1996

It is interesting how this quote has suddenly arisen.  Where was it in 2008 when Senator Obama was declaring his belief that marriage was between one man and one woman?  Clearly, he has always been in favor of gay marriage but he didn't think it would play well on the national stage.  Best to keep that under his golf hat and instead offer his gay supporters the bone of repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell.  Of course, as most lobbies do, they agreed that was great but then asked what have you done for us lately?  Campaign cash was being log-jammed by his failure to come out and reassert his 1996 position.

Thus, the President evolved back (devolved?) to a previously held position.  And suddenly the cash started flowing.  Hmm.  I recall the constant complaints that Bush and Cheney were in the pockets of Big Oil.  Does the same apply to Obama?  This seems like a pretty clear quid pro quo.

Politically, I am curious about the decision.  Blacks are probably the most unsympathetic group to gay marriage and they are also Obama's most loyal voting block.  Though I doubt it will impact the percentage of this voting block he wins, I suspect he has just suppressed the turnout.  Secondly, the day after North Carolina adopts an amendment defining marriage as one man one woman, Obama comes out for the other side.  Why not announce a few days earlier and perhaps alter an outcome he clearly opposes?  Third, Obama can't wait to consolidate more and more power in Washington DC, but on this one issue, he is a Federalist.  Yes, he thinks states should decide.  Perhaps he read my recent blog on Federalism.

Let's look at the states.  Every state that has put the vote to the people has failed to adopt gay marriage.  Where it has succeeded is in State Supreme Courts like Massachusetts; the justices there discovered that John Adams had provided for Gay Marriage when he penned the state constitution in 1780.  No judicial activism there.  More than 30 states have amended their constitutions to ban same-sex marriage and thus constrain such judicial shenanigans.  42 states define marriage as one man one woman.  Federalism has been hard on Obama's evolved position.

This was about getting campaign cash in exchange for words that are not backed by action.  However, Obama better be wary.  In a few months, his backers might declare that his coming out for gay marriage was great but what have you done for us lately?

Cultural Decay

Today I heard a rap song by Ludacris called Sex Room. Now, I don't normally listen to rap but I have been working at the high school and exposed to the musical tastes of teens. Of course, I must wonder if I have simply become an old man who thinks kids are degenerates and their choice of music reflects that. Something to ponder. Perhaps the lyrics in the 80s were racier than I remember, especially since I wasn't one to listen to much music even in my teens.

Yes, I am aware that sex has long been a staple of music. 'Afternoon Delight' and 'Strangers in the Night' are both about sex. There is talk of love, embraces, rubbing, and fireworks. The subject is clear but the wording is suggestive or oblique. Such is not the case with 'Sex Room.' Here are some selected lyrics:

"Leave nothing but your t-shirt and panties on."
"It's about to get real X-rated."
"Mirrors in the headboard, even got a cam-cord."
"Nipples hard as rocks."
"I'mma give you this dick to ride."
"Legs in the air, with your toes pointed."

There is the frequent refrain of 'in my sex room,' in case you are unsure what he is suggesting. Subtle it is not. There were many other 'songs' along the same line though this one was the most egregious. I have read/heard in the news for years about the sexual lyrics of rap but this was my first real exposure, made all the more powerful since a pair of teen-aged girls were listening without reaction. Where is Tipper Gore to rail against this? When these teens are my age, what sort of lyrics will be required to evoke a similar reaction to mine?
